Ember by Rachel Van Dyken {review}

 February 18, 2015
**Amazon release day special 2.99 for 48 hours**
This is a dark mafia romance. It can be read as a stand alone but is recommended to read within the Eagle Elite Series. No Cliffhanger

Everybody Loves A Bit of Darkness..Until It Consumes Them...
I am a Killer. A Rapist. A Monster.
I know only pain and survival.
That is until the Cappo's sister walked into my life.
And changed everything.
She's a light who makes my darkness darker, her smile makes my heart turn to ice, and I can't escape the fear her seductive looks instill--knowing it's only a matter of time before I fail--again, and take her for myself.
This is the story of my redemption.
But it's not pretty...I died, and now I'm alive, but not living, breathing but not surviving. I am Phoenix De Lange, son to a murdered mob boss, estranged brother, horrible friend, monster in the making, newest leader to one of the most powerful families in the Cosa Nostra.
And I will have my vengeance.
Or die trying.
I am Phoenix De Lange.
Death is all I know.
Until she offers me a piece of life--I can't resist taking

Review:
From the moment I started reading the Eagle Elite series I hated Phoenix. I mean if he had been a real person I probably would have junk punched him. He was horrible! the worst of the worst. But somewhere along the way he became...lovable. If you have read the series and I hate spoilers (but this is a must you) then you know we thought he had died and I actually mourned him...and when we found out he was alive I was like OMG are you freaking serious!!! I was ready to have a party. I think I mentally kissed Rachel Van Dyken a million times. She floored me and I loved it. I knew there was more to come and I was so excited.

Well, that more has finally arrived in the form of Ember. We finally get to watch Phoenix's redemption and oh my word ... it is magical. The interaction between Phoenix and Bee is amazing. Phoenix is so broken and Bee is so persistent. The chemistry is so strong beween the two. And then you have the entire Eagle Elite crew who has to put their two cents in. This book is extremely dark but as with any Rachel Van Dyken book you will find yourself laughing out loud. I am so in love with these two.

I always say this is Rachel's best book yet ... and at that time I mean it. She is always outdoing herself and I love her for it. Throughout this series I have been TeamChase and tthen I was TeamTex and I still am.....but I really think that TeamPhoenix is a very VERY close spot for number 1. He has won a place in my heart that I am not sure that anyone will ever be able to replace.
