Grandparent's Day is September 13th

Grandparent's Day is this weekend, Sunday to be exact. Sadly, this holiday is overlooked a lot. I hate to say it but I've been known to forget until the day of. That's why I am so glad MomSelect shared Grandparents.com with me. Grandparents.com offers suggestions for creating a truly special experience for both your parents and your children. From activities and crafts to gift ideas and planning suggestions, the National Grandparent's Day section on the site will help you form memories that span generations.

Growing up my grandparents played a large part of my life. So I'm going to share a little about each of them...

Granny & Grandpa (my mother's parents) lived just two houses away from me. We were at their house everyday. Most of my memories of playing are in their front yard. I was blessed with being able to share many of those milestone moments with them. My Grandpa passed away when I was 9 and I think that only made me closer with Granny until she passed when I was 17. I'm getting teary-eyed as I write this - I guess mainly because I wish my children were able to know them.

My Grandma (my dad's mother - I never knew my grandpa, he passed away when my dad was little) was a school teacher and loved to talk about all of her adventures growing up. That's something I miss so much. When you are a child, you listen - but you don't absorb. I really wish I had more... Grandma passed away when I was s24, luckily I was able to know her as a child and an adult. I'd give just about anything to have a little more time with them.

Grandparents are so special. So I ask that if yours are still around - celebrate them and let them know how much they are loved.
