Written in the Stars by Jennifer Martinez {release day}

Today is release day!!! Yay!!! It's not live on Amazon yet but soon...keep checking back! :)

{about the book}
Believers of fate, destiny, whatever,
say that there are many paths to your one final destination. No matter what choices you make you will always end up right where you are supposed to be. Well I guess I took the road less traveled because God knows I’m broken, bruised, and damaged.

This is my story. It’s about all the wrong turns that led to the right destination. We were written in the stars from the very beginning and neither of us knew it. Love is something you can’t fight and can’t hide from no matter how bad you want to. This is my cosmic turn of love.

{about the author}
One day while slaving away at her monotonous day job, Jennifer Martinez found her true calling. Like a firefly in the night, the pages called to her. Once she caught the bug there was no stopping it. Her fingers flew furiously across the keyboard winding tales of love, mystery and anger. She snapped out of her reverie to find herself still behind the desk but at least she knew who she was… Author Jennifer Martinez.

I like to think of myself as a beautiful conundrum. When I am not writing, I can be found surrounded by my amazing family and 4 dogs or volunteering at a local animal rescue. I love who I am and don’t mind at all when I get strange looks from people. I am a tattoo covered, child and animal lover who looks forward to destroying peoples preconceived notions of what “someone like me” would be interested in. You only live life
once… you may as well make it interesting.

I love to get lost in a good book and hope that everyone will get lost in mine.

{excerpt}

I giggled maybe a little too vibrantly and saw his head dip down to inspect the blades of grass. I used my free hand to lift his chin and bring his eyes back to mine. I said, “I have dreamt about you saying that for the last nine months and you know what? It's even better in real life.”

I saw a sparkle in his beautiful brown eyes as his hands relinquished their hold on my hand and moved to my face. I was flooded with warmth and chills as his thumbs traced the lines of my face leaving little trails of fire everywhere they touched and sending shivers down my spine.
In that moment the whole world ceased to exist. It was just me and Curtis surrounded by the muted sounds of crickets basked in moonlight taking in every detail of the moment. Nothing in my wildest daydreams could have even come close to the fireworks that exploded when he finally leaned in and lightly grazed my lips with his. My body ignited with an electricity I had never felt as I look in that same smell that had sent me into a daze nearly a year ago. He leaned back and looked into my eyes as if asking if it was ok that he kissed me. I felt the corner of my mouth twist up as I bit on my lower lip completely in awe that this moment had finally come. He traced my now throbbing lips with his thumb before leaning in again to firmly place his lips on mine in our first real kiss. I swear we were floating through the clouds as out lips pressed together, breathing each other in. I could feel his passion, admiration and caring rolling off of him. We could have kissed for hours sitting there on that bench but we finally broke apart. We walked hand in hand back to my dorm where he gave me one more quick peck before turning towards his car. I grabbed his wrist before he could escape and invited him in for cocoa and Boondock Saints.

The sound coming from Nellie’s phone again woke them both. Abel had actually woken up a few hours prior when it had beeped a few times. Now it was ringing. He’d almost snuck out earlier while she slept soundly as he had all the other times. She hadn’t even stirred from the phone beeping. But he got caught up watching Nellie sleep. He knew now he must’ve dozed off again because the last thing he remembered was lying back on the pillow to gaze at that peaceful very content expression on her face.
Not missing the surprised double take she did when she realized he was still in bed with her, Abel smirked, watching her reach for her phone. The second she glanced at the screen, she sat up quickly.
“Shit! Is that the right time?”
“Long exhausting nights will do that to you.” Abel didn’t even try to hide the immense satisfaction the very thought gave him. Bringing his hands behind his head in no hurry at all to get going, he smiled smugly. In fact, he couldn’t think of anything better than sticking around and going a few more rounds with Nellie. “But it’s Saturday, so it’s okay to sleep in, right?”
Nellie’s phone rang again, and already she was making her way off of the bed. “Yeah, but I’m supposed to meet someone this morning.” Grabbing a robe from the chair next to her bed, she flung it around her and held her hand up to Abel, while clicking the screen on her phone and bringing it to her ear before he could ask who she was meeting. “Logan? I’m so sorry. I’m running really late, but I can meet you in like forty minutes?”
In direct contrast to how fast he felt his insides warm, Abel sat up slowly, staring at her. He’d had a feeling from day one that if it ever came down to it that he might be a little bothered to hear about her with someone else. It was to be expected, right? Human nature. But he hadn’t expected to feel what he was feeling now.
“Oh, The Country Kitchen sounds delish. Their breakfasts are huge and I’m starving actually.”
He continued to stare at her with a bit of curiosity and something else as she rummaged through her drawers. This had to be business. No way was she jumping out of bed with him to go meet another guy for breakfast. Sure they had an unspoken understanding—no fucking demands and all that shit—but he’d been certain Nellie had more class than this. Was she really chatting it up with another dude while he was still lying naked in her bed listening to her?
The rest of her conversation with the guy was frustrating. The guy was obviously doing most of the talking because she wasn’t saying much more than “uh huh,” so she wasn’t giving him much more to go on about who this Logan guy was.
The choice of clothes she laid out on the bed as she continued with her call only made his insides warmer. Instead of a business suit like the ones that drove him nuts, she laid out a pair of jeans and casual knit top. As off-putting as the idea of her wearing a sexy skirt suit to go meet Logan at the Country Kitchen was, it would’ve at least meant this was for sure a business meeting, not a casual breakfast date with a guy.
He’d gotten out of bed himself now and watched as she brought out the big sexy wedge sandals from her closet. She finally hung up just as he’d finished pulling on his pants. He stared at her as he buttoned his fly, doing his best to keep his cool. If he blew up now, this whole thing could come to an end, as he’d known it would from the beginning, but he didn’t know if he was ready to end this just yet.
“I’m sorry,” she explained, still rushing around the room. “I don’t mean to run out on you like this, but if I’d have known you’d still be here this morning, I could’ve cancelled this last night.” She paused her rushing for a moment to glance at him a bit uneasy. “I just assumed, you know, like all the other times . . .” She looked away before she added the last comment. “That you’d be gone when I woke.”
Swallowing hard, he took in a slow breath. No way was he going to blow this. He knew he was walking on a tightrope. One wrong move and he could go down head first or worse. He could do the very thing they’d both said they wouldn’t do, and the tightrope could snap altogether, leaving no possibility of climbing back on. But he had to ask. “Who’s Logan?”

{my thoughts}
Holy cow!

This was one of those books I read that I fell into. Like everything else disappeared but what was happening within those pages. It was one of the best emotional books I've read in a long time.

The story that Molly McAdams wove around Harper, Chase, & Brandon left me with a mix of feelings. I laughed and blushed and cried. I cried a lot. I told someone that this book broke me. And it did....but then it built me back up.

An amazing story that will leave you with a smile on your face.

Coming June 2013 you can read Chase's side of the story in Stealing Harper. Go pre-order it now!!

Then y'all come back here and tell me what you think. No spoilers for others please. ;)

JEN
He chuckles low, and I suppress the shiver that’s threatening to run through my body. His hand closes around mine, and he pries the hairspray from my grip. His fingers slip between mine, his palm hot. My eyes flick to our hands and how dainty mine looks encompassed in his.
His other hand rises to my face, his thumb tracing down my cheek to the dent below my ear. It ghosts along my jaw, tracing the shape of it, and finally settles on my lower lip. He tugs it from between my teeth gently, and the pad of his thumb strokes across it.
My eyes rise to his, our faces inches from each other.“You know it’s you, don’t you?” he says softly, uncertainly.I nod silently, unable to form any words.
“I mean it, Jen.” He cups the side of my face. “Whatever she tries to say, it’s all lies. Even if she hasn’t said it yet, I can tell you it’s a lie.” He dips his face towards me, resting his nose alongside mine. I let my eyes flutter shut, feeling the realness in the moment.
“I know,” I whisper. “But that doesn’t mean-”“Don’t. Say. It,” he orders in a hushed voice. “I just got you, Jen. I waited for too long to have you, but I do now, and I’ll be damned if I’m gonna let her get in between us. I told you, didn’t I? I told you that if anyone doubts us, if you ever doubt us, to come to me.”“Yes.”“Then do it. Come to me, babe. Don’t let her get under your skin. She’s nothing to me. She never was anything. Not like you.”
I run my free hand along his arm until it rests on his hand cupping my cheek. “What am I, Sam?”“Everything, Jen. You are everything. Don’t ever doubt that.”

{my thoughts}
I actually read this book awhile back, like probably a year ago. It was free and I thought sure why not? The cover was attractive. Ok, the guy on the cover was attractive and it sounded interesting.

Then I started reading...

I fell in love. Not just with Chase but with the story that Lacey Weatherford had created. I read Chasing Nikki in just a few hours. I'm not sure I did anything else but read, laugh, and sob my eyes out. It was one of the most emotional books I had read and it felt as if my heart was breaking.

This story has really stuck with me. The feelings portrayed in the book felt so real. I have shared this with so many of my friends and decided I needed to share it with you...this is an excellent book and you really need to read it!

Battlescars Blog Tour {review, casting, playlist, interview & giveaway!}

In comes Jake Parker, the twenty-five year old lead singer of Battlescars. His reputation is the untamable bad-boy. He’s completely “balls to the wall” in everything that he does. He informs Jake that Battlescars is going back on tour for three months. What everyone doesn’t know is that Jake is worn down and sick of the same old shit.

His record label hires Aubrey’s dads company to fly him around for the last minute tour. In order to keep her dad's company afloat they will have to learn to play nice. When Jake first meets Aubrey she refuses to even acknowledge his existence. He sees her as refreshing and a challenge.

Both of them have some pretty heavy scars from their pasts holding them back. Can Jake get Aubrey to let him in? Or will she shoot him down based on his outlandish reputation? Will her fear of getting hurt again keep him out for good?

{interview with my new BFF Sophie}
1. When did you know you wanted to be an author?
I don’t know if it was ever a certain point that I was like, “I’m going to be an author” lol. I find writing to be therapeutic, like no matter how bad your day is you can make a character have a perfect one, it’s like a mini escape from reality just like it is when you’re reading. To have Battlescars take off like it did is absolutely mind-blowing to me!

2. What's your favorite type of book to read?
I like contemporary romance, but I’ll read anything that grasps my interest.

3. What made you want to write a rock and roll love story?
Just my love for the music. I just want to write stories worth reading and make my readers happy.

4. How did you come up with Jake & Aubreys story? Was it a particular thought or scene that made you want to write it?
I’m literally obsessed with music, especially rock, so to those that know me it really shouldn’t come as a big surprise, haha. I was talking with Stef, who is one of my oldest and closest friends and we were thinking of a name, so I tossed a couple around and she was like ‘I want him to be Jake,’ so tada Jake Parker was born. She also happens to be the one that chose Aubrey’s hair too.

5. Do you have a favorite scene in the book or a favorite character?
Granny Jean hands down, I know I wrote her, but she’s hilarious and definitely one of my favorites. Christian Grey isn’t too bad either, or Gideon, or Travis, or Remy or…. Oh well, I’m a book whore what can you expect.

6. Is there anything you'd go back and change or add to Battlescars?
Actually, no. I know some people thought it was too “insta-love,” but looking at their dynamic it’s fitting, a girl with scars and a reformed bad-boy with a troubled past. He’s balls to the wall and won’t give up until she’s his. I mean did Aubrey even stand a chance.

7. I know you're writing Afflicted (Battlescars #2) can we expect it soon? *cough NOW cough*
I’m hoping to have it ready for publishing sometime in June depending on
completion and editing. I am having it edited as I go so we can cut the overall time down at the end.

8. I've had a sneak peek and its definitely hotter than Battlescars (and it was hot!), is that just because of the type of person Blake is?
Lesley, you’re gonna make the readers jealous knowing that you had a peek of the first couple chapters, lol! Yes, it’s how both Blake and Piper are. They’re very intense and physical. Blake isn’t too good at expressing his emotions so he uses his body instead, a lot. Afflicted is going to be a little different than Battlescars though. Blake has Rowan who’s like a bad habit that he just can’t quit and Piper has Cole who just spent four years serving in the Marines. He comes home suffering from PTSD leaving Piper struggling to deal with him taking off for days at a time. They’re on/off enough to give you whiplash and Blake wants to be there to pick up the pieces but she keeps pushing him away. This is not the fall fast and hard that Battlescars was.

9. Can we expect more stories about the guys in the band?
I’m not sure if Derek and Kevin will get their own story… though Tara (my other sounding board and partner in crime) and I did have a pretty epic conversation about a possible Derek story a few days ago so it’s on paper and we’ll see when Afflicted is completed if I’ll keep going.

10. Okay, now let's be honest, which band member do you want to get with...?
Blake = M. Shadows which also equals no freaking brainer… :P

{review}
Read my original review here! I loooooooved this book! It had me laughing and crying and was everything you could want in a rock & roll romance! ♥ I can't tell you how many of my friends I've told to get it...because I know they will love Jake as much as I do!

Let Love In by Melissa Collins {cover reveal}

Release Date: May 10, 2013

{about the book}

What would happen if you lost everything? If the people who were supposed to love you unconditionally were no longer there for you, how would your world change?

That’s exactly what happened to Madeleine Becker when her parents died when she was ten years old. Ripped from her home and everything that she has ever loved, she is forced to start all over again. The only way for her to move on is to build walls around her heart and keep everyone at a safe distance. Her logic: she can't get hurt if she doesn't fall in love.

That theory is blown to pieces when she meets Reid Connely during her freshman year at college. He is gorgeous and darkly mysterious. He understands Maddy's pain all too well, but sharing his pain would mean breaking down the walls he put up around his own heart. Conflicted between loving Maddy and hiding his dark past, Reid starts to reevaluate his world. Maddy's inner strength, snarky personality and breath taking beauty help Reid to make peace with his past.

Together they find out what happens when they let love in.

There was a group playing quarters on the island and another group lining up shots on the breakfast bar – so not my scene.  I just shrugged my shoulders, opened the door, pulled out a bottle of water and, when I turned around to walk back outside, I face-planted into a wall of solid muscle.  Hand me one?” His voice was smooth and... gruff at the same time.  Red-faced, I turned back around and got him his water, glad for the cool respite that the opened refrigerator door offered.  Here you go.” I could not peel my eyes away from his mouth as he moved the bottle to his lips.  They were perfect - beautiful and full in a completely masculine way.  I watched, completely fascinated, as his throat moved, downing the water in three or four large gulps. He wiped his mouth with his forearm and I couldn’t help but let my eyes travel up the rest of his arm to his biceps and shoulders – those were the same as his lips – perfect.  Amazingly, gorgeously, utterly, divinely perfect.  Muscled and tanned, his arms were mouthwatering. My knees wobbled.  My heart thudded.  Thousands of butterflies spread their wings in my belly.  Thanks…” he stared blankly at my face for a minute and I couldn't help but wondering if he liked what he saw.  He cleared his throat and roused me from my little daydream where the gorgeous boy is mesmerized by the maybe-a-little-above-average looking girl.  That’s when I realized he was asking for my name. Maddy.  Sorry, my name’s Maddy." I nearly choked on my tongue to get my freaking name out.

{about the author}
I’ve always been an avid reader. Majoring in English Literature was a no brainer. Becoming a teacher and instilling my love for reading into my students was also a no brainer. I’ve spent the last ten years teaching and I’ve loved (mostly) every minute of it. When I was home on maternity leave for my third son, I discovered a new genre that sparked my creativity. My passion for writing sprang from my love of reading and once I knew I had a story to tell, I couldn’t wait to get it out there. I only hope that my readers enjoy reading my story as much as I enjoyed writing it.

He leaned in, pushing past the mere centimeters that were between us. His lips brushed mine softly. My eyes widened and I tried to push him away, but he refused to budge as he continued kissing me. I struggled against him, refusing to kiss him back. He became more aggressive, trying to part my lips, but I wasn’t having it. Defeated, he pulled away.
“Don’t do that ever again!” I yelled.

{about the book}

Just Give Me a Reason - Pink

{about the author}

{excerpt}

Everything Changes by Shey Stahl {review & giveaway}

{about the book}
I knew a boy once.

He was a boy that changed everything.

I didn’t know Parker O’Neil outside of the occasional smile and wink. The AMA Supercross racer came to our small town one winter, and I had no idea what he was capable of. How could I have known that he would change my life forever that summer?

Eventually, the occasional smile became a smile I grew to love and longed to see. The occasional wink became a gesture that made my soul sway and my heart ache. In the canyons of the desert, he showed me his lifestyle and his love.

What I didn’t see was the control he had over me. It was a power the glitz and glamor of his professional lifestyle had and eventually what tore apart any life I thought I knew.
In his world of banging bars and soaring jumps, there was no room for someone like me. But for five years, every time he called or touched me, everything changed again. It was a touch that could heal anything and a smile that could light even the darkest nights.

{my thoughts}
I first found out about Shey Stahl when I read her book Waiting For You. And I was wowed. Now I have a new author addiction! So when her latest book, Everything Changes came out I grabbed it up.

I am a real girly girl but I love watching certain sporting events...and well motorcross is one of them. I had never read a book about it, so it was fun to see what it was going to be like.

I LOVED IT!

Shey took me into the world of motorcross and mixed it up with a love story that spans 5 years. The story of Parker and Rowan made me laugh and cry. It also aggravated me. Now some would say that's a bad thing...but the way I see it is I get aggravated with people in real life, why not in books? It just makes it that much more real.

If you want a book that will tug at your heart ... this is it!
