How I Plan to Get Fit #shapelygirl

I like to eat. And I don't like to exercise. Did I mention I'm only 5 foot tall? Yeah, so I'm kinda in trouble. Every extra pound shows. And I don't like it at all. But that's not the only thing. I'm only 33 years old and already have problems with high blood pressure. I need to get healthy for my kids! I can complain all I want about how much I weigh but unless I get up off my butt and do something it's never going to change. As much as I would love to have a Fairy Godmother to wave her magic wand, I don't think that is going to happen.

But in a way though I do have a Fairy Godmother, Debra Mazda from ShapelyGirl Fitness. She has already been through this journey of getting healthy and fit. And she did it! Now she works toward helping others do the same. She will be right with me the entire time I do this. If I have questions or concerns, I can go to her and ask what I can do to make it better. One thing I really love is that Debra doesn't focus on the weight loss, but more on the aspect of getting healthier and learning to be the best you you can be.

When I first saw that Christian Women Affiliate was putting together a review crew for this...I hesitated. Did I want to commit myself to really starting on the journey of getting healthier and in better shape? It's not that I don't want to, but that this isn't something to take lightly. It's a lifestyle change.

For the next month I'm going to be trying (and hopefully succeeding) in my journey to losing weight and learning to be healthier. I won't be alone. There are 26 other women doing the same thing. We will be there to support each other and encourage others to keep moving forward.  I have a new workout DVD called Walking Fit and Fabulous that is going to be my main choice of exercise to start out. It will be done at least 3 times during the week.
This video is a fun, easy to follow, low-impact video that will have you sweating and burning calories. You’ll tone your body while losing weight. Each song has it's own routine that is challenging, motivating and will make you feel and look good.

Included are a 10-minute bonus track and 4 pre-mixes so you’ll never get bored or tired. You’ll have a new routine every day. An expanded version of Debra's signature “Circle Time” is also included. Come join Debra and the girls for an energizing workout!

Level: Beginners and all fitness levels

I really am very excited to try this out and to see the results I get after a full month of use. I'm also going to try to eat healthier. This will be a biggie for me. I'm a southern girl. We like fried foods! And I really like my pop. :( Oh well, I'm just going to have to learn everything in moderation!

I hope you'll come back and see how I'm doing and be sure and cheer me on. I haven't measured or weighed myself yet. I think I will do all that tomorrow before I officially start. But I am going to leave you with the last picture taken of me. This was about 3 weeks ago. Ignore the date on the picture. You know how that works. ;) Anyways, let's see what things look like in a month, shall we?

You can find out more about ShapelyGirl Fitness on Facebook and on Twitter using the hashtag #shapelygirl.

Also you can see how the other ladies are doing by clicking on the links below. :)

*I received the DVD free for review from Christian Women Affiliate and Debra Mazda. All opinions stated above are my own and were in no way influenced. Results may vary*

Music Monday: Love Stops the Hands of Time

I've always been a sucker for the bad boys. I married one, ya know. ;)

The movie Rich Girl came out in 1991. I was just starting middle school and Robby was graduating high school. I fell in love with Rick (the character in the movie...HELLO, he's totally hot and a bad boy lead singer? That's a no-brainer) and thought one day I'll find my love like Courtney did. We met 9 years later...and our lives have been NOTHING like the storyline but it's love so it's okay. :) Now  I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice to have a band member for a husband....but he wasn't into that. He can rock out well in the car though. That has to count for something, right?

Anyways, I've been YouTubing again....and I saw this and had to share. I watched the movie this morning. I still love Rick. Shhh, don't tell Robby. ;)

P.S. If you click on the link about to see what the movie is about it takes you to Amazon. Well, Amazon doesn't carry it but you can buy it from sellers. And REALLY!? Someone is selling a "new" vhs copy for $121.99 and "used" for $44.99? Are these people on drugs? I mean I LOVE the movie....but I could probably get a bootleg dvd for like $12. Not that I would do that (I don't break the law, I just like the gyus who do). I'm just sayin' that's kinda crazy....

Crossing Values (Crossing #1) ~ Book Review

Christian romantic fiction that focuses on emotional and family healing.
For years, Amber traipsed around the northwest avoiding the skeletons in her closet. Job-hopping every few weeks, she refused to let anyone get close to her.
As winter plants itself firmly across the Rockies, she takes a chance on a job at a logging company with a family different from any she’s ever known.
Watching the family interact creates more questions than answers for Amber. Feeling like she’s entered the happily-ever-after written at the end of fairytales, she watches for cracks in the façade.
Surely as the days pass, the play-acting will cease and the real family will emerge.
Or could she be wrong? Could they truly be genuine?
Could Faye understand the trauma from her past or Peter think of her as more than just the winter office help? Could this family really hold the key to what she’s seeking?

My thoughts:
What an amazingly sweet book! This is the author, Carrie Daws', first book. And I have to say she did an amazing job! I want to read more about these characters. As many of you know, I get attached to my books. If I can really care about what happens to the people the author is writing about (yes, I know they aren't real...so?) then I can truthfully say I think you should read the book.
Throughout this story you are able to feel the emotions - sadness, fear, love, and hope. You have a story of a young girl who has been hurt and refuses to allow anyone to hurt her again. She has defenses up that only God could break down. This is a wonderful story of God's everlasting love, redemption, forgiveness, and a super sweet love story.
If my daughter were just a few years older, I would have no problem handing her this book to read. It's innocent and beautiful.
Another awesome thing is that at the end of the book you find out that Mrs. Daws has created a free 7 Day Devotional for you. There are also come Crossing short stories that she has posted directly on her blog. Oh I was in heaven! This feed my need for more Crossing.
There is a second book coming soon in paperback (it's already available in Kindle edition). It's called Ryan's Crossing, about Amber's brother Ryan. This should be really good. I'm not going to say much because I don't like spoilers for books and I don't want to ruin Crossing Values for you. We meet Ryan very briefly in Crossing Values and let's just say I have a feeling Ryan's attitude is going to be pretty harsh. He's a fellow that is carrying a big chip on his shoulder. It should be interesting to see how God works on him. I want to read this very badly.

About Carrie
Over the years, God rewrote Carrie’s dreams to include being a stay-at-home mom and a writer. Originally writing weekly devotions as a way to share what she learned with women from various military bases, Carrie decided to enroll in the Christian Writer’s Guild. While there, seeds were planted and cultivated.
After almost ten years in the military, Carrie’s husband medically retired and they now live in central North Carolina with their three children. Besides writing fiction novels, she stays busy with homeschooling, working part time, and volunteering within two military ministries.
More than anything, Carrie strives to write clean fiction, happily-ever-after stories that gently advocate Biblical values and truths. She says, “I didn’t want to be embarrassed for my young daughter to pick up any of my books. I also didn’t want to be mortified if her life began to echo the activities of the lead character within my story. I believe the end result is books that not only provide some spiritual insight, but ones that reinforce accountability among unmarried men and women, healing from past hurts and families uniting in difficult circumstances.”
You can find Carrie on her website, Facebook, and Twitter.

Crossing Values can be purchased on Amazon in paperback or Kindle edition

*I received this book free from Carrie Daws through Christian Women Affiliates. All opinions stated are mine and were in no way influenced.*

Decision to Love (Sacred Vows #3) ~ Book Review

Love is a decision, or is it merely an emotion?

Eight years after Tony and Hope's affair ended, new problems arise.

Jimmy has gone off to college, but returns home with a startling revelation that devastates his father and causes his final heart attack. Now Hope is grieving the loss of both her husband and their son. She tries to make sense of everything, and in the end she decides to love her son through the grief. More than that, she makes the decision to love whoever her son chooses to love, whether she agrees with his choices or not.

Tony's life has its own disaster tearing through it. First, he is accused of killing his ex-wife, but he is soon released once the authorities realize he had nothing to do with it. The tragedy with his ex led to some major changes in his life, however, and some soul-searching that ultimately turns Tony's life around. While he is still adjusting to his new perspective on life, his long-lost daughter Nina contacts him and has some secrets of her own. He is overjoyed to be reunited with his daughter, but with their relationship comes an entirely new set of challenges.

Jimmy is confused about his faith, his life, and ultimately, whom he should love. After some severe trials knock him off what he thought was the right course for his life, he makes the decision to love himself enough not to be used by someone again. But will his decision protect him in the end?

My thoughts:
Oh wow. I'm really not sure where to start. First, I have not read any of the other books in this series or by this author, Michelle Sutton. I really didn't know what this book was going to contain. I knew the basics, that it was about a man and woman who were trying to overcome their past affair. I didn't know the characters personalities. I went into this blind. Which is okay. Normally, I don't like to jump into the middle of series but I wanted to give it a chance.

When I started reading I realized I wasn't going to miss out on anything. The author was very good about giving past details. So I didn't feel like I was I missing a piece of knowledge I needed to enjoy this book.

Knowing this was a Christian book, at first I was a little shocked by the details and subject matter. Now, I'm not picky. I've read much riskier books. It was only after I had read it that I learned it was considered an edgy Christian fiction. Some people might not want to read a book like this.

In this book you have a story that touches on delicate subjects. But subjects that are real to life. People are dealing with this every single day. Sexuality and lust are a part of everyone. It's how we decide to deal with it that really matters. Michelle Sutton dives right in and shows us the struggles that men and women alike are going through and how they can rely on God to help them make their decisions...which results in the title of the book, Decision to Love.

I really enjoyed the book. It left me thinking about my past choices, and how I'm teaching my children about the choices they will need to make and how they can honor and rely on God to help them to make the right choice. Really excellent book.

About the Author:
Michelle Sutton is a social worker (and now supervisor) who has been writing romantic fiction with an inspirational message for over nine years. Southeastern Arizona is where Michelle calls home. She loves being surrounded by mountains and fresh air, which inspires many of her novels. She and her husband are approaching twenty-two years of marriage and their two sons will begin their third year of college in August. She is the author of well over a dozen novels in print and is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers, as well as an avid book reviewer and blogger on a variety of sites. She founded Edgy Christian Fiction Lovers social networking site which has nearly 1200 members. Crafting new stories and reading/reviewing great books is her idea of a fun time.
You can find Michelle on her website, Facebook personal page, Facebook fan page, and on the Edgy Christian Fiction Lovers social network.

Decision to Love can be purchased on online at  AmazonCBDBarnes and Noble or directly from her page.

*I received this book free from Michelle Sutton through Christian Women Affiliates. All opinions stated are mine and were in no way influenced.*
