Every life is PRECIOUS!

Normally I don't write very controversial posts. I don't like conflict and try to stay away from all drama. However, I read a blog post this morning titled Another Dead Celebrity. So What? and that added on top of what I had been seeing on Facebook the past few days....well I just felt like this needed to be said.

We all have seen the news reports about Whitney Houston's passing and the questions surrounding her death. She was a wonderful musician. Very famous for songs such as I Will Always Love You. When people heard of her death Facebook and Twitter blew up with tributes to her. I posted a few videos and a link to a site reporting her death commenting RIP.

But there was an ugly side to it also...

A lot of people have said Why should we care? She was nobody. Soldiers don't get recognition. And so on and so on. I understand their point of view. The news reports do not carry forward enough information about our soldiers that are fighting and dying for our freedom.

But was that Whitney Houston's fault? No. Was it her fault that she made people care about her through her music? Maybe by following her dream of being a singer. And she was a good singer. You have to give her that.

Her death was a tragedy. Maybe not for me or you. But for the family she left behind. Most definitely.

Drugs? Quite possibly, yes, they were involved. Does that make her a worthless person that should not be mourned? NO! A person who is a drug addict is a person who has an addiction that thing might or might not overcome. For some reason or another they turned to drugs to make themselves feel better. Most likely they did not set out thinking "Woooo, yea baby, let's see how fast I can get hooked on this stuff?" It's not right, but it happens and we need to be more caring about it.

Every life is PRECIOUS!

Regardless of whether they have affected your life directly or not.

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. (1 John 4: 7-8)

We all have a right to an opinion on this subject and this is mine. Sorry if you don't agree with me.

  1. I totally agree with you. Granted, men and women everywhere doesn't get the media attention they deserve for being outstanding and heroic. However.. Whitney left a daughter behind.. she left millions of fans, and ton's of family.. My heart goes out to them. I appreciate your post.
