Homeschool Memoirs - Agendas

So this is my tentative homeschool plan for Gracie. I only planned for 4 days to start off slow. Since it's her Kindergarten year and she is only 5...I want her to still hae plenty of time to be a kid. The schedule looks like this (as you can see it's not very detailed):

Monday: Handwriting, Reading, Numbers/Math, Social Studies
Tuesday: Handwriting, Reading, Numbers/Math, Science
Wednesday: Handwriting, Reading, Numbers/Math, Bible
Thursday: Handwriting, Reading, Numbers/Math, Art/Music

With it being my first year homeschooling and not having lots of money to spend I am just hoping it's enough. This is very important to me. I really wanted to do the Sonlight Core K. But it was way too expensive and with a new baby it was impossible. :( Anyways, I have lots of workbooks and each day includes a lesson from KidSparkz preschool curriculum. I also plan to do reading from the Sonlight book list. The only thing I'm not really sure of is Science and Social Studies...I'm not sure what to use or if I should just use reading and the world around me to teach. Any suggestions are more than welcome!! I'm using Cozi Central to try to keep myself organized. LOL I'm thinking that's kinda impossible. :)

Proverbs 22:6 - Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Homeschool Memoirs - All About Me

Blogger Class Mates is now called Homeschool Memoirs.

Ok, so I should have seen this one coming - a blog about me as the first assignment. First off, I hate these. I never know what to say about myself. Do I say too much, not enough? Anyways, I'll give it a try...

My name is Lesley. I'm Robby's loving wife and proud mommy to 5 year old Gracie and 3week old Matthew. We live in West Virginia, where we were both born and raised. The towns may have changed, but the state has stayed the same. It's definitely Almost Heaven. I'm curious by nature. I'm moody. I love with all my heart, but hurt me and I'll forgive you but never forget. My family means everything to me. I'm a country girl and will never be anything else. Barefoot and pregnant is ok with me. I hate socks anyways. I can be girly girl...but I can also watch NASCAR and WVU football and cheer with the best of 'em. I watch my soaps and am not embarrased to admit it. I love to read and will read just about anything. I like to blog and read others. I can sew a little bit, it's something I enjoy but don't do enough of. Digital scrapbooking is another hobby.

This will be our first year homeschooling. There are a lot of reasons I wanted to...basically, I want to be able to control what she learns and when. Also, I love being with my daughter. She is one of the best things to have ever happened to me. Robby and I have a bit of a difference of opinion on homeschooling. He wants her to start school next year. He was ok with me holding her out but just for this year...he's worried she will miss out on cetain things. I understand his fears, heck, I wonder if what I'm doing is right. But I pray a lot and feel like this is right for us right now. What the futue holds no one knows.

Ummm, I think that's enough for now...I write much more and you might get scared off and never visit my blog again. LOL :)

A few more pics....

I posted quite a few beautiful (if I say so myself) pics of the baby in my previous post...and was asked where the pics of Mama and baby Matthew were - well, I normally don't post many pics of myself because I don't like them, but I'll make an exception this time. Because I loooove showing off my little angel. :)

I was also asked about the cloth diaper cover he was wearing in 2 of the pics. I bought it from a mom on Diaper Swappers. I love the nursery rhyme pattern. It is so cute. The tag on it indicates that it's handmade by Harmony Life Naturals. Check out the store on eBay @ http://stores.ebay.com/hlnatural.

Get to blogging with Blogger Class Mates

Do you have problems remembering to blog? Or just want something else to blog about?

BCM!

Check out Blogger Class Mates! Created for homeschooling moms, but not limited to, as a way to get to know others around the blog-world in a fun and friendly way. Each Wednesday you receive an assignment to write about - something 'focused on strengthening and encouraging mothers in their faith, while enjoying the camaraderie of others.' Thanks Nikki for sharing!

I have a really good reason...

for not blogging for so long...

I had the baby!! Matthew William was born July 31st at 4:21pm by emergency c-section. He weighed 5 lbs 9.1 oz and was 19 inches long. I went in for my bi-weekly NST and he wasn't being reactive enough and after monitoring me and doing an ultrasound my doctor decided it was best to deliver immediately. I was 36 weeks and 2days. Only 2 weeks shy of my scheduled delivery. It was very nerve wracking because Robby couldn't get ahold of anyone and he had to stay with Gracie and wasn't able to be in the operating room with me. I hated that part most of all. I was so scared...I made a nurse hold my hand. LOL Even though I'd had a previous c-section, I don't think you ever get used to the idea of being cut on. Eek!

Matthew needed to have oxygen right after delivery (as most c-section and preemie babies do) and had to stay in the hospital 2 days past my release date because of jaundice, but is doing really well. He is such a content, easy baby. I am so blessed and love him so very much.
